Binkieless and diaperless-ish

Two massive mile stones this morning. Last night I cut a little hole in Xander's binkie - trying to get him off it (he uses it whenever he sleeps). Anyway, Xander is 2.5 yrs old but speaks quite well and he puts it in his mouth, sucks a few seconds, removes it, looks at it, puts it back in and repeats until he examines it again and then says,

"There is a hole." then he looks at me and thinks for a minute and then says, "you cut it Mom!"

What?! They aren't suppose to know that. I have heard of this tactic moms ploy several times and they never accuse the mom of cutting it - regardless of it's truth. Trying not to lie but also trying to keep the spotlight off the blame I said,

"you don't know that. It could have warn out all you know. The only thing you really know is it is broken!"

Surprisingly Xander was satisfied with that and then says,

"cut it some more".

Quinae says, "you know that won't fix it.".

Insisting Xander says, "cut it bigger".

Quinae, "Do you want to do it?"

X - "No, you do it."

Quinae cuts it, Xander laughs (this is going better then I thought it would).

Q - "Do you want to cut it". Xander grabs the sizzors and cuts away. It is now shredded.

Xander then pronounces, "I am a big boy now. I don't need a binkie".

"Uh oh" Quinae thinks. "what is going to happen. It should not be this easy." "Great" I say. "lets say prayers."

Xander's usual prayer pattern is to put his binkie in, and then take it out to say prayers. Realizing this ritual will be no more he says with a scrunched face,

"I need my binkie or I am going to cry!"

Clarifying I say, "you want your broken binkie?"

Without missing a beat Xander says, "No, I am a big boy I don't need a binkie."

We say prayer, I tuck him in and then he realizes what not having a binkie means again and we go through this I need/I don't need my binkie routine about 6 more times over the next hour. But alas he went to bed and he didn't really even cry. Although he did wake up twice crying in the night for 15 min or so. Pretty exciting!!! Then to make up for crying in the night, he woke up and said he needed to go potty. We have been potty training for weeks and he is a hit and miss during the day and he always needs a diaper at night. Well, I rushed him to the potty and alas, his diaper was dry!!! Ahhhhhhh! How awesome!! I feel like my little boy is growing up!! Which I am all for!

Over worked

So, we have been backfilling and putting in the utilities and drain systems at our new house......and when I say we, I mean Ryan, my neighbor driving a backhoe and I. We are going on day 6 tomorrow of full day work. I thought this was going to be a 3 day gig, but alas I had no idea what I was talking about again. They are actually going to start framing tomorrow so I hope there will be room for all of us to work. We are close to being done but maybe 2 more days still which seems ridiculous but that seems to be the theme here. We have had a few bumps in the road but God has been good to us with the weather. It was suppose to rain every day this week but it has been dry, which has really saved us. Also our awesome family has been watching the boys for the last 5 days. We will work with the boys tomorrow at the lot, but that it because I can't bring myself to beg another family member to watch them. I have pics but they are in the camera so I will up load them later.

On another note, Xander is starting a little habit of telling me what violent things he plans on doing to someone. For example, our neighbor is Bill who has been helping us backfill. Anyway, on the way home from the lot Xander was saying, "Mom, first I am going to kick Bill, then I am going to hit him, and scratch him and kick him some more." What does this mean? Now you need to realize that Xander doesn't really stop talking. He just keeps going and going. Sometimes I think he runs out of things to say and he always knows talking abuse gets me to respond. I can ask why to him all I want and he doesn't really respond. So now I say, "Do you think Bill will cry" Xander, " No, cuz it's not nice to hit" Quinae, "So are you going to do it?" Xander, "No, not any more." Phew, glad I talked him out of that one! Hate to have my 2 year old beat up my neighbor.

Getting Started

So I started this blog when I was in Arizona 2 yrs ago and didn't have much to do........doesn't look promising does it? Well, I am also a journaling failure in general. So, my new goal is to blog weekly or so and make a journal out of it. Wish me luck!

So we are building a house on our lot. We had a manufactured house but sold it and moved it off. They just poured the foundation last week and hopefully next week they will begin framing. Pretty exciting! It is going to be huge at 3,000 sq ft, 5 bedroom, 2.5 bath, huge bonus room and 3 car garage. It it will be a some crazy extra space compared to our 1400 sq ft manufactured house with no garage. Maybe we shouldn't have picked a house when we were so fed up with lack of space. It is like shopping when you are hungry. Well, my hope is to fill it with kids, if not more of my own, maybe yours. We have been really busy with the house with making all the decision and excavation and stuff. Once we are done backfilling though we won't have to do more work until it is time to paint. I am going to put it my own wood flooring in part of the house but that is just because I have been itching to put in wood flooring for the last 5 years but couldn't justify it in my manufactured house.
